My ceramic art pieces are individually handcrafted using traditional practices and techniques of throwing on a potters wheel, glazing and firing to 1300degC. The lip and foot rings are unique, Creation of Sam's art is an exacting process which is of the highest quality, very labor intensive and can only be achieved by handcrafting on a potters wheel.
The decoration, if any, is created around what the individual form tells the artists to achieve effect or depth, complimenting the forms is accentuated by the high reduction fired glazes.
The glazes used are unique; continually being tested to be the best applied to ceramic anywhere in the world .
Inspiration of these ceramic works can be traced back to the Koryô Dynasty (918 - 1392) Korea, first half of 12th century.
This presents a solid base of techniques and aesthetics to allow individual expression and creation of artistic ideas.
